Up From 6 plants in 2001 employing 951 people, the sector of aeronautic engineering in Tunisia numbered 43 plants in 2009 with a 2 393-strong workforce.

Two among these 43 plant specialise in cables and employ 56% of the total number of workers, that is 1 340 people. Production in this sector rose from 18 million dinars (MD) in 2003 to 117 MD in 2008. This increase is mainly due to large-scale groups like SEA, LATELEC, ZODIAC, EUROCAST, TTEI, COFITEL, MAT which secure 83% of the production.

France is Tunisia's first partner in the area of aeronautic engineering with 37 resident firms that generated 2 169 jobs (90% of the sector's jobs ).

Italy, Great Britain and the US have each a single representative and employ together 132 people, that is 5% of the total number of workers.
